Lawson continues strong start, claiming KCI Volleyball Tournament with 4-0-1 mark

The Lawson Lady Cardinals started volleyball season with back-to-back wins last week over Trenton and Cameron, taking momentum into Saturday’s KCI Conference Tournament at West Platte.  Riding that wave, Lawson went 2-0-1 in Pool B of the eight-team event, advancing into bracket play as the top seed.  Two victories later, LHS stood on top of the conference as champions.

Lawson opened play with a victory over East Buchanan 25-23, 25-23, before splitting with North Platte 21-25, 25-19.  Against Penney High of Hamilton, Lawson cruised to a 25-9, 25-15 triumph.

Moving onto the semifinals, Lawson was strong in a 25-12, 25-22 win against Mid-Buchanan, then, against the host West Platte Blue Jays, the Lady Cards emerged with a 25-23, 25-21 victory.  Mid-Buchanan went on to win the third place match against East Buchanan 18-25, 26-24, 25-23.  West Platte had downed East Buchanan in the semifinals, 25-19, 25-18.

Mid-Buchanan d. Plattsburg 25-23, 25-16

Plattsburg tied Lathrop 18-25, 25-18

Lawson d. East Buchanan 25-23, 25-23

Lawson tied North Platte 21-25, 25-19
