The Milan Lady Wildcats broke open a tight game with three 5th inning runs before adding two more in the 6th, beating visiting Linn County on Tuesday night 8-2 in action heard on KTTN FM 92.3.
Linn County took a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning, with Mikaela Rojas scoring on a two-out strikeout/passed ball with Harley Gaudet at the plate. Milan responded with a three spot in the home 3rd, with Jordan Gray scoring on a groundball, while Gracie Dickson and Avery Pickering scored on a two-run single by Auburn Cole.
After Linn County cut the lead to 3-2 in the 4th, with Alyssa Bukovac scoring on a Milan fielding error, a two-run double by Cole gave the Lady ‘Cats a 5-2 lead in the 5th, with Cole scoring on a base hit by Hallie Weaver.
In the 6th, Cady Pauley drove in Gray with a double, combined with an outfield fielding error. A squeeze bunt by Janissa Martinez scored Pauley.
In the circle, Pauley earned the win, Milan’s 7th of the season, striking out 11 in a five-hit complete game effort.
