The Princeton Lady Tigers grabbed a pair of victories against Grand River Conference foes on Friday afternoon, defeating Milan 7-0 and Gallatin 3-0 in a pair of four-inning contests at American Legion Field in Milan.

Senior Makenzie Dunkin launched a home run against Gallatin to lead a six-hit attack in a 3-0 Lady Tiger triumph.  With six hits against Milan, Princeton breezed to the 7-0 victory.

PHS pitching was strong, with the defense playing at a sparkling level, throwing seven innings of one hit, shutout softball in the warmup for the 2022 season.

Head coach Steve Richman confirmed the quality of his team’s play:

The Lady Tigers 2022 season has already had a minor schedule change, with the planned trip to Lathrop on October 3rd to play the Mules changed to a game in Pattonsburg against the Winston-Pattonsburg co-op on that afternoon, with a junior high game at 4:30 followed by a varsity contest.  The games at Lathrop will not be rescheduled.  The Princeton junior high will play East Harrison at Mercer at 5 o’clock on September 29th.

Princeton will have the #2 seed and Gallatin the #1 seed for this Saturday’s (August 27) Bill Hill Memorial Tournament at Albany.

In the quarterfinal round, the Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs will be in the 10:15 session on Saturday morning, with PHS playing Stanberry and Gallatin drawing Albany.  In the 8:30 games, Worth County plays King City in the 4-5 matchup, with #3 North Andrew dueling with North Harrison.

Consolation semifinals will be played at 12 noon, with championship semifinals at 1:45.  The consolation final and 7th place game will be simultaneously played at 3:30, with the championship game and third place contests at 5:15 on Saturday afternoon.
