The North Central Missouri College softball team improved to 20 games above .500 on Tuesday afternoon (24-4), using timely hitting, strong pitching, and stalwart defense to sweep the Graceland University junior varsity by scores of 5-0 and 4-2.
Sammi Bradshaw fired a four-hit shutout in the 4-0 win, striking out 11 Yellowjacket batters. Erica Sandoval was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, with McKayla Blackburn two-for-three with a run scored and an RBI.
Casey Stout was the winning pitcher in the 4-2 victory, scattering six hits in a 12 strikeout complete game. Rylee Sensenich had a pair of hits for the Lady Pirates, with Maycee Edgar smacking a solo home run.
The North Central baseball team lost a pair of games at Southeast Community College (Beatrice, NE) on Tuesday, falling 17-3 and 19-8, slipping to 7-10 on the season.
The North Central women will return to Region 16 competition this weekend, playing a Friday doubleheader at St. Charles, starting at 1 o’clock, before a 2 o’clock double-dip at Jefferson College on Saturday.
The Pirate baseball team will play two games at Lewis & Clark College on Friday (1 o’clock) before a single, 9-inning game against the same squad on Saturday at noon.
