The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates outscored Fort Scott 19-10 over the fourth quarter, turning a 47-41 deficit into a 60-57 win at the Johnson County Classic in Overland Park, Kansas.
In the win, the Lady Pirates first of the season, sophomore Sarah Lamp had 24 points and 15 rebounds to pace NCMC, with Kendey Eaton fighting through a second consecutive rough shooting night to add 16 points. Providing a spark off the North Central bench was Mercer product, freshman Nicole Kost, who hit five free throws and added a three point shot, part of 27 minutes of action and 12 points. Â
Fort Scott, in the close defeat, was paced by 15 points from Ally McKenzie and 10 from Jada Perry.
On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Pirates conclude play in Overland Park by taking on the #2 ranked Lady Cavaliers of Johnson County. The game, to be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and U-Click TV (UClickTV.com), will be played at 2 o’clock, with pregame at 1:45 from Overland Park. North Central is now 1-1 on the young season.
The North Central Missouri College men will look to improve to 2-0 on the season, traveling to Quincy, Illinois on Saturday to meet the John Wood Trail Blazers. Tip-off is 4 o’clock.
