The North Central Missouri College basketball teams went opposite directions on Wednesday night, with the Lady Pirates headed to Creston, Iowa, while the men stayed home to host Kansas Christian’s junior varsity, in junior college hoops action.
The Lady Pirates, on the strength of a game-winning three-point shot by freshman guard Lily Osborn with eight seconds remaining in regulation, squeaked out a 75-74 victory at Southwestern Community College, giving Coach Jenni Croy the 200th win of her career at North Central.
Kortlyn Rounkles and Da’Briauna Bables each scored 18 to lead NCMC, with 10 of Rounkles points coming in a strong first quarter. Osborn had 16 points for the now 6-3 Lady Pirates. For SWICC, now 4-5 on the campaign, Simone Jordan had a game-high 22 points, with Brielle Baker scoring 17, and Kaylynn Tucker 14 points.
The NCMC men steamrolled the Kansas Christian JV by a score of 142-71, with Jackson Andrews scoring 31 points, Atavian Butler 27, Jeramy Shaw 16, Demarius Houston 14, Jonathan Richmond 14, and Quinan Rieves 11 points.
