The North Central Missouri College softball team swept a doubleheader on Saturday at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Nebraska, before following up that performance with a doubleheader split on Sunday at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska.
In Saturday’s opener, Maeve Lavoy had 4 RBI’s for the Lady Pirates, with a home run and a double in a performance that included a pair of runs scored. NCMC scored six times in the top of the 1st inning, and never gave up the advantage, adding three runs in the 4th inning, one in the 5th, and two more in the 6th.
Rylee Murray had a solo homer for North Central, part of a 2 for 3, two run effort from the plate. Chloe Bell and Carsen Sporleder both scored twice, with Chloe Helmer adding a pair of base hits.
Game two saw the Lady Pirates rally from 4-0 down after two innings, winning 9-5. The Lady Pirates offense ripped the lead away from the Storm in the middle innings, scoring three runs each in the 3rd and 4th innings. NCMC, up 6-5 heading into the sixth, got valuable breathing room late with two runs in the 6th inning and a single tally in the 7th.Â
Rylie Boyer was 3-for-5 for North Central, with two runs scored and a pair of RBI’s from the leadoff spot. Boyer had a triple with Bell adding a double in a 2-for-4 effort. Maggie McLain scored a pair of runs, with Ariana Reynolds and Lavoy hitting home runs.
In Sunday’s opening 9-8 win over Central, Kaylence Cook was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI’s, with the pitching tandem of Lavoy and Lauren Krohn just good enough to earn the victory.
Lavoy got the ball in Game 2, but the Raiders took the 6-3 win. Lavoy went all seven innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits. Lavoy and McLain each had a pair of hits.
The North Central Missouri College baseball team took 2 of 3 games at Moberly Area Community College over the weekend. On Saturday, the Pirates won 6-2, with Kevin Toala firing five innings, allowing no earned runs with five strikeouts. Evan Johnston came out of the bullpen to earn the win, striking out nine Greyhounds in four innings of work. MACC, in the contest, only amassed two hits.
Justin Dameron led the North Central offense with three hits. Bailey Quint was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.Â
The Pirates struggled in the front end of Sunday’s doubleheader, falling 15-4. Spotty defense in the first inning gave Moberly three unearned runs. Despite the game being tied at 3 through two innings, North Central’s chances disappeared, with the ‘Hounds scoring four in the 3rd inning and eight more in the 4th. The game ended via the run rule after the top of the 5th inning.
Sunday’s nightcap was a wild show of offense, with Tanner Wright launching a pair of home runs, his 2nd and 3rd of the day, racking up 3 runs and 3 RBI’s. Jesus Fonseca also homered and finished the game 2-6 with a pair of RBI’s. Quint continued his hot hitting by going 4-7 with 3 runs and 3 RBI’s.
