The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, coming off of Saturday’s Carrollton Tournament championship, have shifted their focus to Chillicothe, with the Lady Hornets coming to THS on Monday night, with Trenton claiming four victories without a defeat this weekend.
To open play on Saturday morning, Trenton downed Brookfield 25-21, 25-19, with Allena Allen, Natalie Ricker, and Evy McCullough combining for four aces, with McCullough adding two kills. Ava Simpson had four assists, with Libby Fewins having three assists to go with a kill and a block.
Trenton clinched its spot in bracket play with a 25-10, 25-11 takedown of Richmond, as Allen had six digs and four aces, McCullough six blocks and four kills, with Ava Simpson having seven assists and three aces, Olivia Roberts three kills and Jessa Shipley three digs.
In the first of back-to-back matches against the Carrollton Lady Trojans, Trenton won in straight sets 25-21, 25-20. McCullough had six kills, Fewins three kills, and Simpson five assists for Trenton, with Kenzie Yuille contributing four digs.
In the title match, Trenton won a three-set duel with Carrollton 25-11, 15-25, 25-15, as Simpson had eight assists and three digs, Ricker five digs, and Fewins three kills, blocks, and digs.
Trenton hosts Chillicothe on Monday night, with the C match at 5:00 followed by the JV match. The varsity match-up, anticipated for approximately a first serve of 6:45, can be heard on KTTN FM 92.3.
The Trenton JV, on Saturday in Carrollton, finished in the runner-up, beating Brookfield 25-10, 25-18 before splitting with Richmond 21-25, 25-20. Against Lawson, the Lady Bulldogs took a 20-25, 15-25 defeat before a second match against Lawson ended in a 17-25, 10-25 setback.
