The Trenton Lady Bulldogs will host Carrollton on Thursday night, welcoming the Trojans to THS as the volleyball program begins the home portion of its 2019 season. After back-to-back losses to open the week, the Lady Bulldogs will hope that “home cooking” will change the early season fortunes of the team, now 0-4 after setbacks at Cameron and Plattsburg.
On Monday night at Cameron High School, the Dragon netters got the better of the Trenton varsity, 25-17, 25-15. Trenton had, from the service line, one ace each from Evy McCullough and Bekah Allen. McCullough and Mackenzie Klinginsmith added kills, with Libby Fewins contributing an assist.
The Trenton JV fell to Cameron 25-15, 25-13. Kaylea Boyle had an assist, with Sarah Washburn and Lilly Berti serving up an ace each for the Bulldogs.
The freshman match on Monday night went to CHS 25-20, 25-20. Haley Shultz had four aces for Trenton, with Jamie Burkeybile and Tierney Doolittle each had aces, Zoie McGowars an assist, and Katie Markell a kill.
On Tuesday night, the Plattsburg Lady Tiger varsity defeated Trenton 25-14, 25-18. For the Lady Bulldogs, Allena Allen had three aces and a kill, Ava Simpson a pair of assists to go with an ace, Olivia Roberts with an ace and a kill, Bekah Allen an ace, Mackenzie Klinginsmith an ace and a kill, with Evy McCullough picking up a point via kill.
The Trenton JV picked up a strong road win at Plattsburg, victorious by a final tally of 25-23, 25-12. Jessa Shipley and Makenzee Epperson each had three aces for the Bulldogs, with Juliet Schmadeke, Lilly Berti, Epperson, and Katie Markell all with one kill. Boyle had an assist, as did Burkeybile and Faith Baker.
Thursday opens a four-home homestand for Trenton, with Carrollton’s visit followed by Hamilton (9/16), South Harrison (9/17), and Kirksville (9/19).
