Lady Bulldogs grab sweep of Brookfield, starting busy week with season’s fourth win

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs overcame sluggish starts to all three sets in Monday night’s home match against the Brookfield Lady ‘Dogs.  In action broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3, THS used a strong floor game to exert pressure on the visitors, eventually wearing down their opponents in a 25-15, 25-19, 25-14 victory.

Ava Simpson continues to play a strong setter position for Trenton, as she had assists on 26 points for the Lady Bulldogs in the victory, pushing the team’s overall record to 4-9.  Ally Yoder and Lilly Berti played strong at the night, with Yoder’s attacks generally coming from the left side of the net, and Berti’s left-handed swing from the middle-front combining for 19 kills.  Yoder had eight aces and Berti two from the back-line.

The longest point of the night, coming late in the third set, pulled Trenton close to the ultimate victory, with Tom Johnson describing the play on KTTN FM 92.3: 

According to coach Brad Ewald, Trenton showed improvement, with 97 attacks resulting in a better percentage, with 33 successful kills.  Makenzee Epperson had a strong all-around game for Trenton, with five kills, four aces, and five digs.

The Trenton JV won 25-11, 25-13.  THS hits the road for the remainder of the week, playing at East Buchanan on Tuesday night, and South Harrison on Thursday night.  The Lady Bulldogs head to Carrollton on Saturday to play in the annual Carrollton Tournament, before returning home on Monday, October 4th to host Chillicothe.  The varsity matchup between the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Hornets can be heard on KTTN FM 92.3.

Chillicothe’s varsity improved to 8-6 with a straight-set win at Marshall on Monday night, 25-14, 25-23, 25-21, with the Lady Hornet JV winning 25-22, 25-16, and the C team winning over the Owls 25-17.
