Lady Bulldogs grab momentum seizing road win, 7-2 at Kirksville

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs tennis team traveled to Kirksville on Thursday afternoon, leaving by the evening hours with a 7-2 varsity win, including a clean sweep of the Lady Tigers in doubles competition.

In action played on the campus of Truman State University, Trenton’s #1 doubles team of Lexi Gott and Morgan Dolan won 8-6 over Riemenschnieder and Elmore, with Mallory Sole and Alaina Overton, at #2 doubles, downing Eitel and Crawford 8-6.  At #3 doubles, Emilee Lovell and Harley Hall took down Slaughter and Williams 8-6.

Trenton wins in singles play came from Gott, 8-3 over Riemenschneider; Sole, 8-love over Eitel; Overton an 8-1 winner of Slaughter; and Harley Hall, a 9-7 squeaker over Williams.  Kirksville’s wins came at #2 singles, Elmore over Dolan 8-3, and Crawford over Lovell at #5 singles, 9-7, with the tiebreaker going 7-4.

In JV action, Kirksville won three matches to Trenton’s two.  The results were:

(THS) Faith Lee and Chloie Hall d. (KHS) Diana Lam and May Manney 7-6 with 7-4 tiebreaker

The Trenton volleyball team, released from a COVID-19 related quarantine earlier in the week, had their first match back, at Kirksville, on Thursday, with the Lady Tigers taking the varsity sweep, three sets to zero.
