King City Wildkats split opening round games at KC Invitational Tournament

The King City Lady Wildkats continued their fine season on Monday night, as the second-place team in the GRC West improved to 12-6 with a 46-21 win over the Albany Lady Warriors.

In moving to the semifinal round of their own tournament, Brittany Walters had 13 points and Jamie Heine 10 for King City.  The Lady ‘Cats next play on Thursday night at 7:30, while Albany drops into a 7:30 consolation semifinal on Wednesday night.

The #4 seed from North Andrew took care of Stewartsville in the second girls quarterfinal played on Monday night, 69-51.

The King City boys came up one point short of making Monday night a doubleheader sweep for the Wildkats, as the Stewartsville Cardinals took down the host squad, 42-41.  Denton Yager led SHS with 21 points, while Davis Washburn paced King City with 22.  

The North Andrew boys took the 1 vs. 8 seed game against Albany, by a final score of 66-25.  The boys results match North Andrew with Stewartsville in a 6 o’clock semifinal on Thursday night, with Albany playing King City in an all-GRC West matchup in the consolation round, Wednesday at 6 PM.

The second night of the King City Tournament opens at 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon, with the DeKalb Lady Tigers battling South Holt. At 6 o’clock, the South Holt boys play Maysville.  The #1 seed Stanberry Lady Bulldogs, the current leader in the GRC West race, take a 12-3 record into a 7:30 meeting with Stanberry, while the Stanberry boys play DeKalb at 9 o’clock tonight.
