The Southeastern Conference has named University of Missouri senior linebacker Cale Garrett the Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Saturday’s 34-14 win over South Carolina at Faurot Field in Columbia.
Garrett had nine tackles against the Gamecocks, pushing his team-leading total of 37, adding a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the first quarter. Against USC, Mizzou gave up just 271 yards of total offense, including 16 rushing yards on 24 attempts, while amassing four sacks.
Missouri is idle this week, returning to action on Saturday, October 5th against Troy University at 3 o’clock in Columbia (on KTTN FM 92.3 and the SEC Network).
