There were 48 high schools of all sizes entered in the girls district wrestling tournament at Kearney High School on Friday and Saturday, including schools of this immediate area.
Staley finished in first place with 141 points, with Cameron second at 109, Smithville third with 100, and Kearney fourth, amassing 86 1/2 points. Other schools from this area included Marceline in 8th place with 74 1/2 points, Polo 21st with 29 points, Maysville tied for 25th with 18, Trenton tied for 27th with 16 points, Carrollton was 29th with 15, and Gallatin 30th with 12 points.
Trenton had four entries. Faith Baker at 152 pounds and Elizabeth Fewins at 166 each had 3-2 records. Allison Yoder at 130 and Kaitlee Lovell at 135 both were 0-2.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to the girls state wrestling tournament from Thursday, February 20th through Saturday, February 22nd in Columbia.

At 103 pounds, Celest Greer of Cameron was second and Sarah Kussman of Marceline was fourth. Â
At 110, Aiva Mayer of Carrollton finished fourth.
At 120, Christina Herring of Cameron was second and McKenzie Gilreath of Maysville third.
At 125 pounds, Baylee Johnson of Marceline was fourth.
At 130, Kenzie Stahl of Marceline was third.
At 152, Abigail Bolling of Polo was second.
At 187 pounds, Hollie Hedgpeth of Cameron was fourth.
At 235 pounds, Jessica Tanguay of Cameron was fourth.
