In an interview with Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com on Thursday, University of Missouri basketball commitment Jontay Porter said it is a “safe assumption” that he will reclassify and enroll at MU, making him eligible to play with the Tigers and his older brother, Michael Porter Jr., in the 2017-2018 season.

Jontay Porter, ranked the #11 recruit in the Class of 2018 by Rivals.com, has won back-to-back state championships, first with Father Tolton Catholic in Missouri Class 3 in March 2016, and following that up, after a move to the Pacific Northwest, with a Washington state title in March with Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.

Missouri does have one available scholarship to use for this season, supposedly saving it for Jontay Porter’s anticipated arrival.  Head Coach Cuonzo Martin, while not referring to Jontay by name, has told the media that “he expects” to use that scholarship this season.

Multiple sources have confirmed to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Jontay Porter’s transcripts have been approved by the NCAA, making him eligible to enroll at MU.

The Missouri Tigers recruiting class for 2017, led by #1 recruit Michael Porter Jr., is already ranked #7 nationally by Rivals.com, trailing only Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, Texas, UCLA, and Alabama.
