Jamboree sports events approaching across north Missouri

Area high school softball squads will play in a variety of season-opening jamboree events over the next several days, with the first opportunity for fans to see their favorite teams coming up on Friday, as the Milan Lady ‘Cats welcome Gallatin and Princeton to American Legion Field. Cost of admittance will be $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students, although a deal is in place for those attending both the softball jamboree and the 7 o’clock football jamboree across town at Milan High School, with ticket prices for that option set at $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.

At the softball event, Milan and Gallatin will play in the first four-inning scrimmage of the afternoon, starting at 3 o’clock, followed by a Gallatin and Princeton battle, with a Princeton game with Milan to finish the event.

Another softball jamboree event will be hosted by Putnam County High School on Saturday morning in Unionville. Trenton High School will be among the schools in that event, with game action starting at 9 o’clock in the morning. The bus will leave Trenton High School at 7 o’clock.

Carrollton High School will host a four-school softball jamboree event on Saturday, with six scrimmages planned. The host Lady Trojans will play Braymer at 9 o’clock in the morning, with meetings against Brunswick in the fifth scrimmage of the day, followed by a finale against Slater. Other matchups will be Braymer vs. Brunswick (Scrimmage #2), Slater vs. Braymer (Scrimmage #3), and Slater vs. Brunswick in the fourth scrimmage. The Carrollton Booster Club will serve pork burgers and hamburgers, chips, and a drink combo for $6.00.

Cameron will host a three-team volleyball jamboree on Saturday at the Intermediate School gym, with Cameron against Lathrop at 10 AM, Lathrop playing Savannah at 11, and Savannah dueling with Cameron at 12 Noon.

Carrollton High School will host a four-school volleyball jamboree on Wednesday night (August 23rd), with the Lady Trojans hosting Trenton, Santa Fe, and Marshall. Each school will get nine sets of action (three against each team), with sets finishing when the winning team reaches 15 points.

Princeton has announced the annual “Tiger Spirit Night” for the fall season for Wednesday night, August 23rd at 6 o’clock at Eddie Allen Field. Junior High and high school athletes in softball, basketball, golf, cheer, cross country, and band will be recognized. The night will also include a Booster Club membership drive, the opportunity to purchase sports season passes, buy “Tiger Paws”, and enter raffles. Terri Kelly will take pictures for cutouts after the Spirit Night activities.

On Thursday, August 24th, Pattonsburg will host a four-team softball jamboree event, with the Panthers again running a co-op program with Winston to field a team this fall. The Panthers will host East Harrison at 4 o’clock, Tri-County at 7, and Gilman City at 7:45. Tri-County and Gilman City will play at 4:45, with Tri-County against East Harrison at 5:30, and Gilman City battling East Harrison at 6:15.
