The powerhouse East Buchanan volleyball program got a challenge from Trenton on Tuesday night, but the home team from Gower survived, improving to 20-1 with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-15 victory over THS.
Trenton was paced by Mackenzie Whipple with five kills. Jacole Simpson had 14 digs, and Abby Simpson and Emma Raedelli each had six assists and an ace.
EB won the JV match 25-11, 25-11 and the C team battle in straight sets (scores unavailable).
Trenton head coach Brad Ewald told KTTNSports.com, “Obviously we would have liked to come out on the winning side, but the score does not show how exciting we made this match. We had several rallies that went back and forth 6 or more times before a point was scored. Unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of most of them, but we are going to keep fine tuning our attacks making them as sharp as possible. Hopefully we can get things to click into place and get a few more kills a little quicker in the rally.”
