University of Missouri has picked up the football program’s 14th verbal commitment in the Class of 2017, with 160-pound cornerback Terry Petry (Missouri City, Texas) giving a commitment to Tiger Head Coach Barry Odom on Wednesday morning.

Petry, a four-star prospect in ratings by Rivals.com, announced via Twitter that he was flipping his commitment from the Houston Cougars to the Missouri Tigers.  The recent decision by Houston Head Coach Tom Herman to take the vacancy at Texas is believed to have led to Petry’s change of heart.

Petry’s commitment is the fourth in the class for Mizzou out of the state of Texas, announced by Coach Odom to be a renewed priority for MU shortly after his hire in December.

In addition to Mizzou and Houston, Petry had offers from Iowa State, Kansas, and UT-San Antonio (according to Rivals.com).

Missouri is looking to rebuild a cornerback position that loses both starters (Aarion Penton and John Gibson) to graduation next spring.
