The Chillicothe Hornets controlled Friday night’s varsity doubleheader with the rival Trenton Bulldogs, winning both games in lopsided fashion at Chillicothe High School.
The Lady Hornets gave up the first four points of the opener against the Lady Bulldogs, but rolled from that early slow start, cruising to a 61-20 victory.
Kayanna Cranmer paced CHS with 19 points, while Jolie Bonderer contributed 14. Chillicothe is now 4-1 on the season. Trenton, in falling to a mark of 3-4, had 14 points from Mirena King.
The boys game tipped to Chillicothe after a tightly played first quarter saw the Hornets up 8-6. CHS outscored the Bulldogs 15-7 in the second quarter and put the game away with a 18-2 third quarter edge, winning 53-19. The Hornets, improving to 3-2, were paced by Jai’Shon White with 12 points, Griff Bonderer’s 11, and James Mathew with 10. Trenton, now 1-5, had nine points from Kiefer Tolson and six from Gabe Novak.
