The HDC Conference has announced first-team, second-team and honorable mention selections for the 2023 high school baseball season. The Gilman City Hawks finished second in the regular season conference standings at 2-1, behind 3-0 Tri-County/Gallatin, but the Hawks and Mustangs tied in leading the way with first-team selections, with two each. Named first-team from Gilman City were Brody Langfitt and Landon Preston. First-teamers from Tri-County are Draven Wright and Boston Bell, with the fifth member of the team Corbin Axtell of Newtown-Harris/Grundy R-5. All first-team selections were made in unanimous fashion.
Gilman City won a district title before falling to Platte Valley in Monday night’s Class 1 sectional round, 5-1. Tri-County plays at Lathrop in Tuesday night in the Class 3 sectionals.
All-HDC 2nd team selections are Gilman City’s Kyler Preston and Peyton Taggart, East Harrison’s Kaeden King, Gilman City’s Kaden Locker, and Newtown-Harris’ Mason Rayl.
Honorable mention selections are Jackson Ohlber of Tri-County, Aidan Rains of Newtown-Harris, Peyton Baker of Tri-County, and Kobe Hill of East Harrison.
