The Kansas City Royals have placed veteran right-hander Ian Kennedy on the 10-day disabled list, after he injured his right hamstring in Thursday’s loss to the Chicago White Sox.  The team is calling Kennedy’s injury a “strain”.

To take Kennedy’s spot on the roster, the Royals have recalled rookie Miguel Almonte from Class AA Northwest Arkansas.  Almonte is one of the top prospects in the Royals minor league system, and had started the 2017 season very strong, with a 1-0 record and 1.85 ERA in 24 1/3 innings for the Naturals.  Almonte has 29 strikeouts for the Royals Double-A affiliate this season.

The Royals began a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium.
