The Lady Panthers of Grundy County High School traveled to Ludlow on Friday night, with non-conference softball action against the Lady Wildcats of Southwest Livingston.
Using a relentless contact-and-speed offensive approach, Grundy continued its September scoreboard assault with a 16-9 triumph, once again evening the Panthers season record at 7-7.
Grundy R-V rallied from early deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 to dominate the middle innings, scoring 14 runs over the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings in a road win. Zoe Littleton earned the pitching victory with eight strikeouts. Â With the bat, Littleton had a pair of doubles. Â Emma Baxter had a huge night for Grundy County with five RBI’s, Morgan Axtell had a double and inside-the-park home run (benefited by Southwest errors), while Kendra Johnson had a double.
Grundy R-V will have two non-conference home games this season, taking on (weather permitting) Novinger on Monday night and Linn County on Thursday night. Â Road trips to Mercer (Monday) and Novinger (Tuesday) are coming up next week.
