The Lady Panthers of Grundy County High School traveled to Ludlow on Friday night, with non-conference softball action against the Lady Wildcats of Southwest Livingston.
Using a relentless contact-and-speed offensive approach, Grundy continued its September scoreboard assault with a 16-9 triumph, once again evening the Panthers season record at 7-7.
Grundy R-V rallied from early deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 to dominate the middle innings, scoring 14 runs over the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings in a road win. Zoe Littleton earned the pitching victory with eight strikeouts. With the bat, Littleton had a pair of doubles. Emma Baxter had a huge night for Grundy County with five RBI’s, Morgan Axtell had a double and inside-the-park home run (benefited by Southwest errors), while Kendra Johnson had a double.
Grundy R-V will have two non-conference home games this season, taking on (weather permitting) Novinger on Monday night and Linn County on Thursday night. Road trips to Mercer (Monday) and Novinger (Tuesday) are coming up next week.
