The “wrap-up” interviews for the 2017-2018 basketball season are underway in the PAR Broadcast Group sports office, as Tom Johnson spoke with the head coaches of the Grundy County R-5 Panthers on Monday morning.
The Lady Panthers, enjoying their most successful season in recent years, advanced all the way to a district final appearance against #2 ranked Green City. However, the Lady Gophers hex over the Galt girls continued on Friday night, with Brooke Littrell scoring 49 points in a Green City victory. Of concern for the Lady Panthers coming out of the game is the health of Jandie Peterson, who went down with a knee injury that Coach Leetta Fordyce fears could be an ACL tear. With the loss of only one senior (Mady Williams) to graduation, hopes are high for an even better girls basketball season at Grundy R-5 for the 2018-2019 school year.
“The Leetta Fordyce Show” (Grundy R-5 Lady Panthers basketball):
The Grundy R-5 boys, led by Steve Wells, had an up-and-down season that also ended at the hands of the eventual district champion Green City Gophers (in the district semifinals). However, the Panthers played their best basketball of the season in February, and while Grundy loses a pair of strong seniors to graduation, there is hope in numbers that even brighter days could be ahead for the Grundy boys program.
“The Steve Wells Show” (Grundy R-5 Panthers basketball):
The final Grundy R-5 coaches shows of the basketball season will air at 5:40 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018 on KTTN FM 92.3.
