The Grundy R-5 Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and cruised to a 16-6 win at Novinger on Tuesday night. The game was called after five innings by the run-rule.
Grundy’s double-digit start was followed by the teams trading either 1 or 2 run half-innings, with the Lady Panthers scoring once in the 2nd, and adding two runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings. Novinger had a single run in the 2nd and 4th, and two runs in the 3rd and 5th innings.
Gabby Nielson had two RBI’s, with Emily Otto adding three RBI’s, two hits, and a base on balls for the Lady Panthers, now 10-8 on the season. Zoe Littleton was the winning pitcher.
Novinger won the baseball game with visiting Grundy R-5, 17-5. For the Panthers, Jonathon Stimpson pitched 1 1/3 innings, Carter Searcy 2/3 innings, and Ryan Metcalf two innings. Metcalf was the most effective of the Panther pitchers, giving up one walk and one hit, with one strikeout. Stimpson was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI’s for Grundy County, while Wayne Baxter was 1 for 1, with two walks and an RBI.
