GRC West leader Albany sits third, Braymer fifth in eight-man poll

A pair of big matchups highlight the Week 8 high school football schedule, as the 8-man media poll was released on Monday morning.  

Defending state champion Archie, with six of seven first-place votes, remains in the top spot in the poll, with 69 total points.  The Whirlwinds face a challenge road test at 4-2 Plattsburg this Friday night at 7 o’clock.  

The other first-place vote went to #2 ranked Rock Port, as the unbeaten Blue Jays begin preparations for a home game with archrival East Atchison (Tarkio/Fairfax coop) on Friday night at 7 o’clock.  The Wolves will head to Rock Port with a 3-4 record.

The Grand River Conference West leading Albany Warriors are ranked third with 49 total points.  The Warriors are at Pattonsburg on Friday night at 7. 

Nodaway Valley is ranked 4th, with unbeaten Braymer at the fifth position.  The Bobcats face a Norborne/Hardin-Central team battling for respect on Friday night, as the Aggies, unbeaten at 7-0, have not cracked the Top 10, with four points putting NHC in the 12th spot.  Concordia is 11th with a 6-1 record and five points. 

Lockwood is sixth, Platte Valley seventh, Bishop LeBlond eighth, Worth County ninth, and Appleton City tenth in the latest rankings.
