Grand River Conference basketball honors announced

The seven schools making up the Grand River Conference for the 2023-2024 basketball season have announced first-team, second-team, and honorable mention picks for the completed season.

Six girls were named All-GRC first-team selections, all by unanimous selections, with Trenton junior Mirena King joined by Milan sophomore Marian Dabney, Gallatin senior AnnaBelle Ball, Polo’s Hanna Vaught, and the South Harrison tandem of senior Hannah Carter and junior Abigail Molloy.  South Harrison won the regular season GRC championship.

Second team honors were earned by Milan’s Emerson Pauley, Gallatin’s Ashley Feiden and Kallie Salmon, South Harrison’s Hallee Chamberlin, Polo’s Libby Norton, and Karley Seaton of Putnam County.

A pair from the district champion Trenton Lady Bulldogs earned honorable mention status, with junior Kaegan Croy and senior Madi Moore on the list in addition to Milan’s Avery Pickering, Maysville’s Alana Clark, South Harrison’s Emma Chamberlin, and Putnam County’s Allise Perkins.

Eight boys were named All-GRC first-team, highlighted by a pair of seniors from the champion Putnam County Midgets, in Owen Ream and Trace Reidiger.  Trenton junior Kiefer Tolson is a first-teamer, along with Kobyn Metzger and Dillon Willis from a powerhouse Maysville program that lost only two games this season, Maverick Gentry of Polo, Gallatin’s Gavin Wilmes, and Milan’s Ahmet Niasse.

Second team All-GRC boys selections are Maysville’s Tanner Evans and Kris Gabbard, Polo’s Gage Gilbert, Gallatin’s Boston Bell, South Harrison’s Jett Cornett, Putnam County’s Mason Morris and Carter Simmons, and Trenton’s Gabe Novak.

Honorable mention status was achieved by Maysville’s Kayden Gabbard, Milan’s Jared Gonzalez, South Harrison’s Isaac Williams, and Putnam County’s Kooper Hornaday.
