The Gilman City Ladyhawks are nine girls (six of those freshmen) strong for the 2017 softball season, although early season eligibility issues cost the team a chance to open its season against nearby rival Pattonsburg. Â That game, originally scheduled for Tuesday night, is postponed, with the hope that a makeup date will be decided upon soon by the school administrators.
Coach Holly Preston tells KTTN Sports Director Tom Johnson that she is cautiously optimistic that Gilman City’s HDC Conference opener against the Grundy County Lady Panthers will be played on Thursday night as scheduled.
