The Gilman City Hawks spent last week “playing up” in competition, participating in the Gallatin Invitational Basketball Tournament.  The Ladyhawks went 0-3 to finish in 8th place, falling to Braymer, Polo, and Maysville, with the loss to the Wolverines just by four points (42-38) on Friday night.

While showing promise building their team around senior standout Hailey Burrows, the Ladyhawks are 0-4 to start the campaign, headed into a non-conference game with Pattonsburg on Friday night.

The Gilman City boys, unlike their female counterparts, do have a victory on the season, that in the season opener against Osborn (57-20) on November 22nd.  However, the momentum of the young Hawks hit turbulence last week, with losses to Winston, Maysville, and Hardin-Central giving the Gilman boys a disappointing 8th place finish at Gallatin.  Games with Pattonsburg on Friday night, and at Union Star on December 13th, loom on the schedule.
