The Florida Gators had a dominant performance in Game 2 of the College World Series against the LSU Tigers, winning 24-4 and forcing a Game 3. Here are the key highlights:

  • Ty Evans and Jac Caglianone led the offensive onslaught for Florida, each hitting two home runs. Evans hit a solo homer in the second inning to tie the game and a grand slam in the third to give Florida the lead. Caglianone contributed with back-to-back homers in the sixth inning and added another in the eighth.
  • Florida’s 24 runs in the game set a new record for the most runs scored by a single team in a College World Series game. Additionally, their 20-run margin of victory is tied for the second-largest in College World Series history.
  • LSU’s starting pitcher, Nate Ackenhausen, struggled, giving up three runs on six hits in just 2 1/3 innings. He was the first of six pitchers used by LSU in the game. Florida’s starter, Hurston Waldrep, also had a challenging outing, walking six batters and allowing three earned runs in his 2 1/3 innings of work.
  • The decisive Game 3 between Florida and LSU is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. ET. The winner of that game will win the national championship, while the losing team will be eliminated.
