Trenton High School’s Werthen Gass won a tiebreaker at the Mozingo Golf Course in Maryville on Monday afternoon, taking the individual Grand River Conference championship on a rainy day in Nodaway County.

Gass tied the Gallatin duo of Kelli Lynch and Megan Cox at 95.  By GRC tie-breaking rules, the scorekeepers went to the scorecard after the 18 holes were completed, and went with Hole #7 (the #1 handicap hole), to break the tie, with a par shot by Gass from earlier in the day giving the Trenton junior the GRC title. Lynch and Cox officially tied for runner-up, with a pair of Stanberry golfers finishing 4th and 5th (Allison Marticke at 105 and Marissa Jensen at 106).

Gallatin had four of the top seven scores on the day, with Ally Johnson finishing in 6th place for GHS at 113 and Sarabeth Michael 7th place at 115.  The three other top 10 finishers, earning “All-Grand River Conference recognition”, were Trenton’s Maci Henson, Putnam County’s Delany Munden, and Stanberry’s Brianna Newman, all at 122.  Henson won the 8th spot, by shooting a six on the tiebreak hole to beat out Munden and Newman for the eighth position.

Gallatin won the team title at Mozingo, shooting 418.  Jacklyn Mays shot 125 for the Gallatin Lady Bulldogs.  Stanberry was second at 459 and Trenton third with a score of 485.  For THS, Grace Holcomb shot 133 and Oakley Madden 135.  Worth County (540) was 4th, followed by Albany’s 549. Maysville was 6th (550), with Braymer 7th (551), Putnam County 8th (554), and South Harrison 9th (587).
