Gallatin wins tight battle to take title at Marceline Golf Tournament

The Marceline Tigers hosted the Gallatin Bulldogs, Trenton Bulldogs, and Carrollton Trojans on Friday afternoon, in the Marceline Golf Classic. Behind two scores of 37 from Jett Simmons and Logan Burns, Gallatin won the tournament with a team score of 159, just five strokes ahead of the host Tigers total of 164.  Trenton was third at 172, with Carrollton fourth at 250.

In addition to Simmons and Burns shooting 37, Marceline’s Trey Hamilton shot 37.  Simmons won a tiebreak competition to take medalist honors.  Just behind the 37’s from that trio, Trenton’s Nate Swann shot 38 while Lathan Croy added a 39.  Other Trenton scores on the day were 46 from Luke Lewis, 49 from Corbyn Guile, and 52 for Connor Cotton.

For Gallatin, Wyatt Bird shot 42, Gabe Cole 43, and Haden Bradford 50.  Marceline had four of their five scores in the 40’s, with Jordan Elam at 40, Andrew Edgar 43, Makenzie Fessler 44, and Colby Sims 46.
