Princeton High School hosted the George Scurlock Memorial Softball Tournament on Saturday, with the Lady Tigers welcoming seven schools to the district’s new facility off U.S. Highway 136.
The Gallatin Lady Bulldogs left with the tournament title, winning three contests by a combined score of 35-6, as Penny Gardner’s team continues to build momentum toward the start of district play.
In Saturday morning’s quarterfinal round, Gallatin downed Mercer 5-3, with Putnam County claiming an 8-6 win over Pattonsburg, while Albany took an 7-1 win over Gilman City, while Princeton defeated Braymer 9-3.
The mid-day hours brought the consolation and semifinal rounds, with Pattonsburg clipping Mercer in one consolation contest 10-9, with the Braymer Lady Bobcats advancing into the consolation final with a 10-2 takedown of Gilman City.
In the championship semifinals, Gallatin dominated its game, beating GRC rival Putnam County 20-1, with the host Princeton Lady Tigers defeating Albany 7-1.
Mercer salvaged a 7th place win over Gilman City 6-4, with Braymer winning a high-scoring 5th place final against Pattonsburg 12-7. The Albany Lady Warriors took 3rd place over Putnam County 15-6, with Gallatin rolling to a 10-2 win over Princeton in the final.
