The eight teams converging on Albany for the season-opening Albany “Bill Hill Memorial” softball tournament on Saturday have been seeded, with Gallatin placed in the top position, with Princeton seeded fourth, and North Harrison sixth.
The tournament will have a heavy Grand River West feel, with seven of the eight teams in the event from the new nine-school conference. Gallatin, from the newly-created seven team Grand River Conference, is the only non-GRW team.
There will be a pair of 8:30 games on Saturday morning to start the event, with a battle of Tigers, as #4 seed Princeton battles #5 seed Worth County. That game will be on the “West Field”, while #3 seed King City plays #6 seed North Harrison at the same time on the “East Field”.
Two more quarterfinal games will follow at 10:15, with the top-seeded team from Gallatin playing Stanberry at the West Field, with #2 seed North Andrew battling Albany on the East Field.
The consolation semifinals, featuring the losers of the morning sessions, will take place at 12:00 PM, with the championship semifinals at 1:45, the consolation final and 7th place games at 3:30, and the third place and championship games at 5:15.
