Gallatin, Albany open golf season with Monday night victories

The Gallatin Lady Bulldogs shot a team score of 220 to outlast Stanberry and Worth County in a Grand River Conference triangular on Monday night, Gallatin’s score was 19 strokes ahead of runner-up Stanberry’s 239, while Worth County shot 265 for the third-place effort.

The Albany Lady Warriors played in head-to-head competition against the Penney Lady Hornets in Monday golf.  Albany won the duel, although the details are not available.

In high school volleyball on Monday night, Maryville beat St. Joseph Benton in MEC play 25-21, 27-25, while elsewhere in northwest Missouri, South Holt won a three-set thriller over North Platte, rallying for wins in two straight set after losing the first.

The Lafayette girls tennis team squeezed past in-city rival Bishop LeBlond 5-4.  

In high school football, the King City JV beat North Andrew 28-6.  The Lathrop freshman beat Lafayette.  The score was unavailable.

In the high school softball scoreboard for Monday, Lathrop pounded Notre Dame di Sion 22-0, Lawson beat Carrollton 11-1, North Platte took a 5-1 win over Stanberry in nine innings, Scotland County spoiled Putnam County’s season debut 3-1 in 10 innings, Hardin-Central downed Braymer 6-4, and East Buchanan slipped past King City 5-3.

Plattsburg ripped North Andrew 15-0, while Canton claimed a 5-3 win over Kirksville.  South Shelby won 8-3 over Knox County, North Shelby rolled past Novinger 17-2, and Marceline was impressive in an 11-2 win over Hamilton.
