The Class 3, District 16 All-District teams have been announced for both girls and boys, with three Trenton Lady Bulldogs named to the squad, the most out of any of the eight teams in the field.
Named All-District for the THS girls were juniors Ainsley Tolson, Mykah Hurley, and Salem Croy. The District 16 champion Penney Lady Hornets had two players named All-District, including McKauley Prothero, who hit the game-winning basket in overtime of Saturday’s dramatic championship game win over Trenton. The other Hamilton player named was Nora Ford.
The rest of the girls team is made up of the Maryville backcourt of Serena Sundell and Emma Baldwin, the East Buchanan duo of Madison McCreary and Samantha White, and Brookfield’s Cassi Conard.
On the boys side, Trenton High School senior Lathan Croy was named All-District, joined by East Buchanan’s Ethan Kilgore and Kolten Griffin, Hamilton’s LaTroy Harper, South Harrison’s Treyton Campbell, Lathrop’s Brock Lewis and Blake Gordon, LeBlond’s Jack Harvey and Sean Davis, and from the champion Maryville Spoofhounds, Tate Oglesby and Eli Dowis. Matt Stoecklein of Maryville was named Coach of the Year.
The District 16 champions from Hamilton and Maryville are both in action tonight (Wednesday night) in the Class 3 sectionals at Excelsior Springs, with the Lady Hornets playing Higginsville at 6 o’clock, followed by the Spoofhounds battling St. Paul Lutheran at 7:45.
All-District first and second teams in Class 2, District 16 at Gallatin were announced, with the champions from Mid-Buchanan well represented, including both Mid-Buchanan coaches, Rod Elms and Bryce Kemper earning Coach of the Year honors.
Girls first-teamers are Mid-Buchanan’s Jill Rumpf and Jaele Barber, Stanberry’s Lily Osborn and Madi Sager, and East Atchison’s Jaycee Graves. Secong teamers include Princeton’s Payton Goodin, Karley Salmon and Kelsey Maxwell of Gallatin, Hailey Kirby of Plattsburg, and Mid-Buchanan’s Brylee Kemper.
All-District 16 first team boys are Mid-Buchanan’s Hunter Scaggs, Stanberry’s Brad Hailey, Gallatin’s Jett Simmons, James Fleener of Polo, and Austin Shirk of Maysville. On the second team are Princeton’s Calvin Berwanger, Mid-Buchanan’s Jayden Brown and Collin Wyatt, East Atchison’s Gage McAdams, and Plattsburg’s Darius Rawlings.
