In the opening Summer League action, former Missouri men’s basketball player Dru Smith and his team, the Miami Heat, settled for a split as they lost to the Sacramento Kings by a score of 95-83. Smith contributed nine points, three steals, two assists, and one rebound in the game. Unfortunately, the Heat couldn’t build on their previous win against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, the Lakers, featuring former MU star D’Moi Hodge, also finished their play in Sacramento with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs, with a final score of 109-99. Hodge had eight points in the game, including two successful three-pointers out of four attempts. He also recorded two rebounds and a block.
Both the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers will now move on to Las Vegas for the remainder of their Summer League play. They will be joined by other former Tigers, including Kobe Brown (with the Clippers), Jontay Porter (with the Bulls), and Mark Smith (with the Nuggets).
