On Saturday night, Mike Moustakas and the Colorado Rockies suffered a humbling 25-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels at Coors Field in Denver.  By the end of the night, the former Royal had been sent to the opposite dugout.

In a late Saturday night swap, the Rockies traded Moustakas to the Angels for Class A pitcher Connor Van Scoyoc, who was 4-3 with a 2.76 ERA in 11 starts at Tri-City this year.

Moustakas, best known as the starting third baseman in Kansas City for the 2015 World Champion Royals, has bounced around the big leagues in recent years, with numbers dropping for the now 34-year old.  This season, “Moose” had four homers and a .270 average with 17 RBIs in 37 games played.

Los Angeles is adding Moustakas to add depth to an infield hit by injuries to Anthony Rendon, Gil Urschela, and Zach Neto since early June.
