A Friday shooting in St. Louis County has taken the life of 27-year old Cameron Biedscheid, a former college basketball player from Notre Dame and Missouri. Biedscheid was killed on the block where he lived. Area police have not indicated whether they have suspects in the case.
A 2012 graduate of Cardinal Ritter High School, Biedscheid was a highly sought player at the Division 1 level, eventually choosing Notre Dame. Averaging 26.4 points per game as a high school senior, Biedscheid struggled to adjust to the college game, averaging 6 1/2 points per game in his freshman season in South Bend, and after a redshirt sophomore season had begun in the fall of 2013, he had announced a transfer “back home” to Missouri, headed to Columbia in December of that year.
By the start of the 2014-2015 season, Biedscheid was on the move again, after his dismissal from the Tiger program by then head coach Frank Haith. Stops at Jacksonville State, LSU-Shreveport, and Harris-Stowe followed before Biedscheid’s career came to a close.
