On Monday, former Kansas Jayhawk player Udoka Azubuike signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns. Azubuike was the 27th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. During his three seasons with the Jazz, he averaged 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 76.9% from the field. He appeared in a total of 68 games, starting 10.
Before the previous season, the Jazz declined the fourth-year team option on Azubuike’s contract, and he played for the Boston Celtics during the summer league.
Standing at 6-foot-10 and weighing 280 pounds, Azubuike had an impressive college career at Kansas, where he was named the Big 12 Player of the Year and received Second Team All-American honors during his senior year.
In Phoenix, Azubuike will join Bol Bol, who is a native of Kansas and the son of the late Manute Bol. Bol Bol played two seasons for Bishop Miege High School, leading the team to a 22-win season and a 4A-Division I state championship during his sophomore year. He later attended the University of Oregon.
