First quarter blitz, career night from Cierra Porter, lead Mizzou women to 68-62 win

The Missouri women roared out of the gate on Monday night, scoring the first 16 points of their game against UC-Riverside, and holding on over the last three quarters for a 68-62 win, Mizzou’s 10th of the season.

Sophomore Cierra Porter scored a career-high 26 points to go with 12 rebounds, while senior Sierra Michaelis produced another double-double, with 10 points and a season-high 11 rebounds.  Sophie Cunningham scored 12 first quarter points to spearhead the Tigers quick start, finishing with 14 on the night.

The Tigers finish the non-conference portion of their basketball season with a Wednesday night game at Saint Louis University.  Tip from Chaifetz Arena at SLU is slated for 7 o’clock.  MU is 20-0 all-time against SLU.  Missouri’s first SEC game will be New Year’s Day at 12 noon against the Georgia Bulldogs at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
