Class 1, District 14, a pair of tournaments played last week at Albany High School, have announced the 10 girls and boys named All-District for the 2017-2018 basketball season.
The Worth County girls and boys won the district tournaments, with both Tiger teams playing tonight in the state quarterfinals at the St. Joseph Civic Arena. Named All-District 14 from the Lady Tigers were sophomores Kristin New, Regan Allee, and Anna Gladstone. Two players from the Mercer Lady Cardinals went to the All-District level, in junior Esabel Holt and sophomore Aubrey Wilson.
The girls team is rounded out by North Harrison seniors Payton Craig and Brandy Rivet, East Harrison juniors Natayla Selby and Lauryn Waddle, and Newtown-Harris sophomore Gabrielle Nielson.
The boys All-District team includes four players from the champion Worth County Tigers, in seniors Drake Kinsella, Cade Allee, Ryan McClellan, and Mason Hawk; Mercer’s junior Hunter Shipley and sophomore Camden Hartley; Gilman City senior Cornelius Peery; East Harrison senior Ethan Claycomb; and Pattonsburg seniors Peyton Jones and Brett Curtis.
Green City High School won the girls and boys championships in Class 1, District 11, with Brooke Littrell, Katelyn Conner, and Kassi Straley named All-District for the Lady Gophers, while Ryan Peavler and Devin Fields won All-District status for the boys. Green City was bounced from the Class 1 state tournament on Tuesday night, in sectional losses at Chillicothe High School.
