The Missouri Tigers, coming off a 78-63 loss last Tuesday night at Mississippi State, have fallen to the 17th spot in Monday’s Associated Press college basketball poll. MU lost its opportunity to bounce-back from the road loss in Starkville, as close contact to COVID-19 caused postponements in Mizzou’s home games with LSU last Saturday and Vanderbilt on Tuesday, January 12th. Make-up dates will be announced in the near future.
Mizzou, at #17, is one of only two SEC squads in the top 25, as #10 Tennessee, which gave the Tigers their first loss of the season, the other. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and LSU are all receiving votes in the national poll.
Missouri’s quarantine from COVID-19 is expected to end on Wednesday, sending the Tigers into immediate preparations for a game at Texas A&M on Saturday at noon.
Across the state line in Kansas, the K-State Wildcats will not host Iowa State in Big 12 action on Wednesday night, due to Kansas State being unable to reach the Big 12’s roster threshold of six scholarship players. KSU, last Saturday, lost to Oklahoma State 70-54, in a game that saw the ‘Cats field a team with six scholarship players and two walk-on’s. K-State’s next game remains on the schedule, a Saturday road trip to play #4 Texas.
