The Milan Lady Wildcats, after losing an early game 6-1 lead, rallied with single runs in the 6th and 7th innings to defeat visiting Trenton on Tuesday night, with an 8-7 final in softball action broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7.

Milan, on the strength of two Avery Pickering homers in the first two innings, claimed a 6-1 lead against Trenton starter Emma Roberts.  With Milan already up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st, Pickering rocked a shot over the left field wall to double the lead.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning, after Marian Dabney had scored to push the lead to 3-0, Pickering hit a sinking liner to left to rolled to the corner, with a three-run inside-the-park shot pushing the lead to 6-1.

Milan’s defense slumped in the middle innings, as Trenton scored three runs in the 4th inning to slice the lead to 6-4.  The Lady ‘Cats committed three errors in the frame, with two Trenton runs in the 5th inning, with RBI singles by Mirena King and Madi Moore, tying the contest.

Milan improves to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in the GRC, dropping Trenton to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in the GRC.
