Numerous area athletes were recognized with high school football All-State honors, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams announced by the Missouri Football Coaches Association this week.
Starting in Class 1, first-team quarterback honors go to Mid-Buchanan sophomore Javan Noyes, who helped lead the Dragons to the state semifinal round, where Mid-Buchanan lost to Lincoln, 14-13. Penney running back Sawyer Morrow is a first-team selection, as is Milan senior offensive lineman Brady Reynolds and Marceline senior offensive lineman Nathan Sayre.
On the defensive side of the football, Penney’s Tyler Trosper is a first team lineman, with Gallatin’s Graydee Rains chosen for the 1st team at linebacker. Marceline’s Cullen Bruner is the first-team all-state kicker.
On the Class 1 second team is Penney High School tight end Connor Kavanaugh, a Hornet senior. Marceline’s Clayton Stallo is a Tiger senior, and a second team defensive back.
East Buchanan senior quarterback Tyler Schottel is the third-team all-state selection at signal caller. South Harrison junior running back Collin Haffey is a third-team selection, as is Gallatin defensive end Tom Crouse, Milan linebacker Dominic Dabney, Marceline linebacker Colby Sims, Milan defensive back Hunter Shaw, Gallatin kicker Adrian Hernandez, and Princeton kick returner Logan Dunkin.
Turning to Class 2, the runner-up Lathrop Mules had four selections to the first team by the MFCA, with running back Justin Wright, linebacker Seth McKnight, and defensive back and kicker Justin Burns receiving those honors. Brookfield senior Brooks Baker is a first-team defensive lineman. Alvaro Porras of Lexington, a nemesis of Trenton’s during his years with the Minutemen, is a first-team All-Stater at running back.
Lathrop had two selections on the defensive side of the football to the Class 2 second team, in defensive end Colton Nichols and linebacker Tristan Blair. Lawson had three second-team selections, in offensive lineman Nolan Mills, defensive end Ethan Bowers, and all-purpose athlete Andrew Stephens.
Two Carrollton Trojans were named Class 2 third-team all-state, in senior wide receiver Hayden Ritchhart and senior tight end Cawyer Davis.
Five members of the Class 3 semifinalist Maryville Spoofhounds were named first-team all-state, in running back Tyler Houchin, athlete Tate Oglesby, offensive lineman Jackson Bram, defensive lineman Tallon Noland, and linebacker Tyler McGary. The Spoofhounds senior Eli Dowis, a recent commit to Northwest Missouri State, is a second-team selection at defensive back.
