Two of the best rivalries in northern Missouri, the Putnam County Midgets against the Milan Wildcats and the Brookfield Bulldogs against the Marceline Tigers, will be played on the softball diamond on Wednesday night, in opening round games of the Class 2, District 16 softball tournament.
Marceline will host the tournament, with the opening round contests at 5 o’clock (Putnam County vs. Milan) and 7 o’clock (Marceline vs. Brookfield). The top two seeds in the tournament, #1 seed Macon and #2 seed South Shelby, have first-round byes.
The Putnam County /Milan winner will play Macon on Thursday night at 7 o’clock, preceded by South Shelby taking on the Brookfield / Marceline survivor at 5.
The Class 2, District 16 championship game is slated for Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
