The two-time defending district champion Trenton Lady Bulldogs will host the Class 2, District 15 softball tournament from Wednesday, October 4th through Saturday, October 7th at Mark Griffin Memorial Field, adjacent to Trenton High School.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association recently announced district pairings and host sites for the 2017 softball season, with Trenton chosen as the District 15 host, welcoming the LeBlond Golden Eagles, Carrollton Trojans, Lexington Minutewomen, Penney Hornets, and South Harrison Bulldogs for the event.  The top two seeds will earn first-round byes, and automatic berths into the semifinals on October 5th.  First round matchups will see the 3 seed playing the 6 seed, with the 4 seed dueling with the 5 seed on October 4th, with the semifinal winners advancing to the title game on October 7th.

Trenton beat Lexington on the Minutewoman home field in last year’s district final, going through Hamilton in the semifinal round.  Then-sophomore Ainsley Tolson won the district title for THS on the strength of a perfect game.

Despite winning back-to-back district titles, Trenton has found their potential trip to the Final Four blocked in back-to-back years by Lathrop, with the Lady Mules, on their way to a 2015 state title, beating Trenton in that year’s sectional round, with the Lady Mules traveling to Trenton last October and breaking the hearts of the Bulldogs in a 4-3 state quarterfinal round.

This year, Lathrop will be placed in Class 2, District 14, hosted by Lawson High School.

Grand River Conference members Putnam County and Milan will join rivals Marceline and Brookfield in the Class 2, District 16 tournament hosted by Macon High School, setting up the possibility of a Marceline-Trenton state sectional for the second straight year.  South Shelby will be in the sixth team placed into this year’s District 16 tournament.

Lafayette County High School of Higginsville will host the Class 2, District 13 tournament.
