The Meadville girls and boys, after winning quarterfinal games earlier this week, will be involved in the quadruple-header of basketball on Thursday night, as Norborne High School hosts the girls and boys semifinals of the Class 1, District 12 basketball tournament.
On Monday night, the girls tournament started with quarterfinal-round play, as the #1 seeded Norborne Lady Pirates blasted Brunswick, 64-23, advancing to a semifinal with the Meadville Lady Eagles, who moved on with a 44-33 win over Northwestern on Monday. The Norborne vs. Meadville girls semifinal will be Thursday night at 7 o’clock.
On the bottom half of the girls bracket, the #2 seeded Hale/Bosworth Lady Cardinals beat Keytesville 45-21, while the Tina-Avalon Lady Dragons beat Slater 60-35. Hale/Bosworth and T-A will duel at 4:30 on Thursday afternoon in the first semifinal of the day.
The Class 1, District 12 girls championship game will be played on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
The Meadville boys could be headed towards a Meadville Tournament championship game rematch with the Northwestern Eagles, as Meadville is the #1 seed and Northwestern #2 for this week’s event in Norborne. On Tuesday night, Meadville rolled to a 70-24 victory over Hale/Bosworth, while Northwestern took care of Tina-Avalon 69-36. In the closest game from the quarterfinals, Brunswick’s boys beat Slater 64-61, while Keytesville beat the host Norborne Pirates 50-37.
In the Thursday night boys semifinals, Meadville will be challenged by Brunswick at 5:45, while Northwestern takes on Keytesville at 8:15. The Class 1, District 12 boys championship game will be played on Saturday afternoon at 2:15 at Norborne High School.
