The Tarkio Lady Indians, with a team score of 175, claimed the title in Monday’s Maryville “Best Ball” golf tournament at Mozingo Golf Course in Maryville, with Lauren Quinby of Tarkio taking individual honors with an 18-hole score of 85. Â Maryville was second with 177, followed by Chillicothe’s third place tally at 190. Gallatin, with a score of 199, was fourth.
Trenton shot 224 for an 8th place finish, with Cameron 10th at 241 and South Harrison in 12th place at 279. Â Thirteen schools made up the field in Maryville.
The top individual score from the immediate area was from Chillicothe’s Hallie Jones, in 4th place with a round of 95. Â Three strokes behind Jones, Trenton junior Werthen Gass put up a score of 98 for fifth place, one of only six players out of the 69 on the Mozingo Course shooting below 100 for the event. Â
In the “Best Ball” event, Gass teamed with Maci Henson was finished 6th representing Trenton High School.
Other Trenton scores on the day were Oakley Madden 129, Maci Henson 139, and Grace Holcomb at 155. Â For Chillicothe, Maddie Lamp shot 109, Lexi Hargrave 111, Riley Probst 113, Hannah Haakonstad 125, and Lauren Price 126. Â Cameron’s top score of 127 was shot by Kiersten Howell, while Lauren Kreiwitz had 137 to represent South Harrison’s best score.
The Trenton golfers are off until Tuesday, September 5th, when the Lady Bulldogs travel to the Daviess County Country Club in Gallatin for the Gallatin Tournament, starting at 9 AM.
