Chillicothe throws shutout at Trenton in Tuesday tennis duel

The Chillicothe Hornets improved to 5-2 in duels this spring with a 9-0 victory at Trenton High School in boy’s tennis competition on Tuesday afternoon.  The closest Trenton came to the win column was at #4 and #6 singles, where Kade Ockenfels (#4 match) was bumped off by Cody Evans, 10-8, while Wyatt Neal, in the #6 singles match, fell to Colton Webb 10-7.

Chillicothe dominated singles play otherwise, with Nate McKiddy (#1) beating Jacob Davis 10-1, Brandon Lamp shutting out Nick Shields 10-love, Lane Bonderer (#3) over Bryce Whitney 10-1, and Max Anderson at #5 singles, defeating Creed Houghton 10-3.

Two of the three varsity doubles matches between the Bulldogs and Hornets were relatively close, with Bonderer/Evans, at #2 doubles, defeating Whitney/Ockenfels 8-5, and Anderson/Webb (#3) defeating Houghton and Neal 8-4.  In the #1 doubles match, Chillicothe’s McKiddy and Lamp cruised to an 8-1 win over Davis and Shields.

In JV play, the schools played five doubles matches against one another, with Chillicothe winning four of the five.  Trenton’s tandem of Dylan May and Dillon Parrack lost their first match 6-2, but won their final match of the afternoon, 7-5.  C.J. Sibbit and Zack Maberry lost 6-2, while the Trenton teams of Jeremy Elliott and Weston Otto, along with Colten Hamiton and Elijah Oyler, falling by identical 6-love final scores.
