Chillicothe girls win Irish Relays as Trenton girls finish 5th, boys 3rd

Lafayette High School in St. Joseph hosted the Irish Track and Field Relays on Thursday afternoon, with the Chillicothe Lady Hornets (123 points) and Maryville Spoofhounds (137 1/3 points) taking the team titles.  The Chillicothe boys were a close second to MEC rival Maryville with 130 points, followed by the Trenton Bulldogs, with 90 points.  The Trenton Lady Bulldogs scored 64 1/2 points to finish in 5th place in the 12 school meet.

Trenton boy’s coach Scott Stevens reported that the Bulldogs ran their “district line-up” on Thursday afternoon, bowing out of the 100, 200, and 400 meter competitions, and not running in the 4 by 200 relay.

Zane Rottman finished 2nd for THS in the 1600 meters to Chillicothe’s Layne Worman, and Austin Burkeybile won the long jump (11 feet, 5 inches), with the 4 by 800 relay team running a time of 8:52.62 to beat runner-up Cameron by over 22 seconds to win that event.  Jadan Whitney of Trenton was second in both the shot put (to Chillicothe’s Walker Graves) and discus (to Maryville’s Elijah Green).  Carson Burchett was fourth in the shot put for the Bulldogs, with Luke Schilling 5th in javelin and 4th in the 800, Rottman was 3rd in the 800.  Daniel Rodriguez was 5th in the 1600 and 3rd in the 3200.  Trenton’s 4 by 100 relay was third, with the 4 by 400 relay finishing third.

300 hurdles : Brett Shaffer (Chillicothe)

4 by 100 : Lafayette

4 by 200 : Lafayette

4 by 400 : Chillicothe

 

Whitley Richman won a first-place mark for the Trenton Lady Bulldogs in the javelin, at 103 feet and 9 inches.  The 4 by 400 relay ran a season best of 4:22.38 to beat runner-up Chillicothe (4:27.19).  The 4 by 200 relay also ran of personal best of 1:52.36, finishing just 0.84 seconds behind the winning squad from Lafayette.  Lafayette claimed the by 4 by 100 relay with Richmond winning the 4 by 800 relay race.

Trenton’s Richman was 3rd in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles and 5th in the high jump for the Lady Bulldogs.  Tenna Roberts ran 1:04.34 to finish 2nd in the 400 meter dash, while McKayla Blackburn finished 4th in the 800 meter run.
